Chefs in Paris!
The Chefs in Paris
On a recent event held at the Mona Bismarck American Center for Art and Culture, Paris; two Chefs from the Philippines were hard at work to prepare dishes that best represents our country to over 300 VIPs.
Chef Anton Abad (Corporate Chef from Vikings Luxury Buffet) and Chef Von Ragudos (Executive Sous Chef from Vikings Luxury Buffet) were handpicked by the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Tourism and Industry to represent our country on a 1-day event in lieu of the Philippine Independence Day. Both Chefs were tasked to create dishes by incorporating some of our local premium ingredients, such as tuna, mango, coffee, chocolate, pineapple, cashew nuts and muscovado sugar. Chef Anton expressed that “it was a bit overwhelming at one point” because the buffet line was already empty within an hour from opening, and guests were lining up in front of the kitchen waiting for their seconds (and thirds)! Some of the dishes that were featured during the event were: Laing Pizza, Tuna Kinilaw in Endive, Roasted Beef Entrcote a la Bistek Tagalog in Kalamsi Liquor and Caramelized Onion, Glazed Kalamsi Muffin, and Malagos Chocolate and Dried Mango Rum.
With this recent event, the Vikings Chefs were given a great exposure to a new culinary culture, and we can definitely expect great things to come to the Vikings Luxury Buffet menu with the inspiration and vision that the Chefs will be bringing with them back home. In the words of Chef Anton: “What a great experience, Merci Paris!”
